Under extensive examination, most will agree that there should be certain limits placed upon freedom; that society, under specific and limited circumstances, needs to be protected from undue influence, that is, protected from itself. Indeed at the political level, at any rate, this is realized though law. The only differences of opinion regarding these controls have to do with just what it is we need to be protected from.
